turn out, bear, produce, yield

這四個詞(組)的意思相近,都表示“生產出”。其區別是：

bear表示“產仔或結果實”,可引申指“再生產”; produce的用法更廣,可指生產一切有形的或無形的東西; yield也表示生產,但強調結果與回報,而不是所做的努力; turn out強調結果,但同時還側重先前付出的勞動與艱辛。例如:

The soil bears good cotton.

這種土壤出產優質棉花。

Gas can be produced from coal.

煤氣可從煤中提制。

His business yields big profits.

他的生意帶來巨大的利潤。

This factory can turn out 100 cars a day.

這家工廠每天能生產一百輛汽車。

turn out, prove

這兩者的共同意思是“證明”。其區別在于:prove的主語可以是人,也可以是事物; 而turn out的主語一般是物,有時含有“意外”的含義,常用于口語中。例如:

His first attempt proved successful.他的第一次嘗試證明是成功的。

They proved that he was guilty.他們證明他有罪。

As it has turned out, there was no need to worry.結果證明當初不必擔心。

下面兩組中的兩個句子意思相同:

They took turns at watching the baby.

They took turns watching the baby.

become，get，grow，turn，go，come

這些動詞均可表示“變成，成為”之意。

become最普通用詞，作為連系動詞，指從一個狀態向另一個狀態的變化。

get常指某人或某物有意無意地獲得引起變化的因素，結果使變成另一狀態。

grow常指逐漸地變成新狀態，強調漸變的過程。

turn側重指變得與原來截然不同，有時含貶義。

go作為連系動詞，通常與形容詞連用，指進入某種狀態，從而發生變化，多指不好的狀態。

come側重變化的經過或過程，多用于不良情況。

change，alter，vary，convert，modify，transform，turn

這些動詞均含有“變化，改變”之意。

change指任何變化，完全改變，強調與原先的情況有明顯的不同。

alter常指輕微的改變，強調基本上保持原物、原狀的情況下所進行的部分改變。

vary暗示不規則或斷斷續續地變。

convert指進行全部或局部改變以適應新的功能或用途。指信仰或態度時，強調較激烈、大的改變。

modify強調起限定作用的變化或變更。指細小的變化，常含“緩和、降調”的意味。

transform指人或物在形狀、外觀、形式、性質等方面發生的徹底變化，失去原狀成為全新的東西。

turn指外形、顏色、氣味、性質等方面的變化，比change更通俗。

rotate，revolve，roll，spin，turn，whirl，circle

這些動詞均有“轉動、旋轉”之意。

rotate側重指物體圍繞自己的軸或中心旋轉，即自轉。

revolve強調指物體圍繞本身以外的中心旋轉，即公轉。

roll指某物在平面上滾動或翻滾。

spin指沿內軸迅速而連續旋轉，或沿外部一個點作快速圓周運轉。

turn普通用詞，中性，含義廣泛，根據搭配，可指作一個圓周運動或連續地作圓周運動，也可指僅是沿圓的弧形轉動。

whirl指旋轉或作圓周運動，側重急速或力量。

circle指作圓周運動。
